Chapter Seven

Two Days later
"Are you ever going to answer your phone?" Jocelyn asked.
"Its none of your business." I said.
"Who is it, anyway?"
"Sidney"
"You don't want to talk to him?"
"Nope." Then I got up and walked downstairs.

"You know you are going to have to talk to him eventually." Jacob said walking into the living room and hearing my phone vibrate for the 100th time.
"Maybe now he can understand what it feels like."
"So you are just going to let him keep calling?"
"Yup"
"Well I'm sick of listening to it and watching you mope around about him, and then when he comes back you throw him out!" He said picking up the phone.
"Hey, Sidney. Joey is actually about to go to work. I'll tell her you called." Jacob said picking up my phone.
"I am late." I said walking out the door.
"Don't you want your phone?"
"No, the only person going to call is Sidney..and I obviously don't want to talk to him."

I've been working alot at the cafe since my mom can't. Its been fine lately, bake a few pies and wait on tables. Everyone has been so nice about everything. I had been working for about 3 hours when he showed up. He sat in his normal table with a bunch of guys from the team.
"What are you doing here? You didn't get the message of me not picking up my phone?" I said to him.
"Aren't you going to take our order?" He asked in his sweet voice.
"I can't believe you would come here, where I have to talk too." I said.
"That was kind of the point." he said.
"Too bad I don't have to wait on your table... Alison, can you take this table for me?" I asked another waitress.
"No, its fine.. we will leave." Sidney said and walked out.
"You know he really is sorry, and really does miss you." Some boy with him said.
"Sorry, I don't know who you are."
"I'm Brooks Orpik, I'm on his team."
"I didn't mean to be rude, its just I don't want to talk to him right now."
"I understand, but you really should know he does miss you."
"How do you know?"
"Because on the road trip he kept talking about you and asking for advice about everything."
"I just need time... tell him that." I said.

I really did just need time. I just needed to figure it out. I loved Sidney, he didn't know that, he would never know that, but I did love him. I just need to be able to count on him, I need him to be reliable.
After a few days, Sidney got the hint. He didn't call anymore. He did send some texts just saying he missed me and how sorry he was. I knew he was sorry and I knew he didn't mean to hurt me, but it doesn't change the fact that he did hurt me. I was going to an indoor tournament this weekend and I couldn't wait. My dad was traveling up with us and it was going to be a good break from everything.

Well, the tournament didn't go so well. I didn't play that well, I only had two points. We won the championship but still, I sucked. I knew it, but from the time my dad picked me up from the bus thats all I heard.
"You need to play better." He said.
"I know, Dad. You think I don't know that?"
"Well I just don't know how you expect to get offers if you play like that?"
"Dad, I had a bad tournament, that doesn't mean the end of the world."
"You can never have a bad tournament if you expect to play Divison I. If you don't pick it up you won't even be able to be a manager for a team."
"Fine, Dad. I don't want to talk about it anymore." I said crying.
"Don't cry about this.. thats just stupid. Why do you cry over something you CAN control."
"Because I'm a girl and I cry about things. I am not Jacob.." I said and then sat in silence. When we got home, I walked in threw my stuff on the floor and grabbed my car keys.
"Where do you think you are going?" My dad asked.
"Anywhere but here." I said.

I didn't really know where I was going to go. I got in my car and I ended up at a familiar house. I guess I didn't notice that his car wasn't in the driveway, because I went to the door anyways.
"Hi Joey. Sidney isn't here." Nathalie said.
"Oh okay, I'm sorry."I said turning to leave.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, its fine." I said wiping my tears.
I ended up driving to starbucks and just sitting in there. Then I got a phone call from Sidney about ten minutes after I left the Lemieuxs.
"Joey, whats wrong?" He said before I said anything.
"I'm fine." I said trying not to cry again.
"Nathalie called me and said you went to the house."
"Yeah, I did."
"Why?"
"I needed to talk to you.. I just needed to see you."
"I'll be right there."
"You don't have to come."
"I want too. Just go back to the Lemieuxs and I'll be there in like 20 mins."
"Okay."

"Whats wrong?" He said walking into his room and finding me sitting on his bed.
"My dad basically told me that I suck at soccer."
"He didn't mean it."
"I'm sorry Sidney. I'm sorry for ignoring you for so long."
"Its fine, I should have been there for you."
"Where were you when I came before?"
"In the city."
"Where at?"
"Just at a friends house." He said getting nervous.
"You were at a girl's house?" I said standing up.
"Its nothing."
"It is something.. you were there! That explains why the phone calls stopped."
"Thats not fair. You broke up with me." He said.
"I broke up with you because I knew you wanted to have girls! I knew you wanted to have fun.. I didn't want to hold you down.. it didn't mean I stopped loving you."
"You loved me?"
"Loved.. past tense. Doesn't matter now."
"It does matter."
"No, it doesn't. I needed you and you were at some girls house, thats what means something."
"I can't do anything right with you."
"I guess not." I said getting up and leaving.
