Chapter Sixty-Six

“So what do you want to do tonight?” I asked when we both got out of the pool.

“Up to you, babe.” He said.

“Dinner and a movie?” I asked.

“Yeah. I had a feeling you would say that.”

“we can do it here, because Sophie and Jake are taking Jason and Jordan to a Pirates game.” I said.

“Okay, you pick where you want to go for dinner and what movie.”

“The movie part is easy.”

“Let me guess. A Walk to Remember?”

“Nope. Titanic. Good try though, babe.” I said giving him a quick kiss.

“You know we should go to a pirates game sometime and fireworks!” I said getting all excited when I thought about the fireworks idea.

“I’m sure Mario can get us tickets.”

“If you don’t want to go, we don’t have too.” I simply said.

“No, I do. I mean anything with you is fun and we have never been to a Pirates game together, but we would have to sit in the club seats or something so we don’t get bothered, that’s why I said I would ask Mario.” He explained.

“Okay, I just don’t want to make you do anything.”

“You don’t. Anything with you, I will do on my own free will.” He said.

“this is why I love you.” I said kissing him once we got into my bedroom.

As soon as I got home, Jordan and Jason ran up to me.

“Joey!!!” They both yelled and gave me this huge hug.

“I guess you guys missed me?” I said picking up Jordan.

“Did you know that Sophie and Jake are taking us to a baseball game?” Jason asked.

“Really? That’s fun!” I said acting like I didn’t know what they were talking about.

“I’m going to play for the Pirates one day.” Jason turned and said to Sidney.

“Really? What number are you going to be?” Sidney asked him.

“12” Jason replied.

“Not fair. I want to be 12.” Jordan said jumping down.

“Too bad.. its mine.” Jason said.

“Jordan, I guess you will just have to play for a different team and wear number 12.” I said and Jordan started getting mad.

“Or you could pick a new number? 87 seems to be a good number.” Sidney said and I just hit him.

“87 is a number for silly boys.” I said telling Jordan.

“Or you could play for the Penguins one day and wear number 12.” Sidney said.

“Yeah! I want to play for the Penguins!” Jordan decided.

“Okay, well you better start practicing.” I told him.

“Sophie, how long did you know Sidney was going to pick me up?” I said walking into the kitchen while Sidney played with the twins in the living room.

“Jake called me yesterday and told me.”

“You suck for playing along!” I said.

“You still love me.”

“Yes, that’s true. How is it going with Jake?” I asked.

“Its good. Tonight will be fun at the game.”

“Are you sure you want to take the boys with you?”

“Of course.”

“Hey, so Sidney has this brilliant idea of us playing golf tomorrow.” I said.

“What?” She asked laughing a little bit.

“Yeah tell me about it, but you two are playing with us.” I said.

“I don’t know how to golf.”

“Yeah, well I’m not too good at it either. But Sidney thinks it will be fun and I am sure he cleared it with Jake, since apparently they are good friends now?” I said.

“Jake!” I yelled.

“What?” He yelled from upstairs.

“I need to talk to you!”

“Stop yelling!” Jason called from the living room.

“Soph, I’ll talk to you later, right now I have to talk to Jake.” I explained and walked up the stairs to find Jake.

“What do you want?” He said as I sat down on his bed.

“I didn’t know you and Sidney were such good friends.”

“Whats that suppose to mean?”

“It means exactly what I said. I didn’t know you two talked.”

“Of course we talk, Jo.” He said.

“Well did you know about golfing tomorrow?” I asked.

“Yeah, I think it will be a lot of fun.”

“Have you ever seen me and Sidney play a game with eachother?” I asked.

“Why are you so mad about this?”

“I’m not mad, Jake. Its just Sidney is so so so competitive. We fight playing video games so much to the point we don’t play anymore. We fight over the stupidest things possible, so sorry if I don’t want to go out in a public place and play golf with him.”

“Jo, he probably sucks.”

“He takes golf seriously. And I doubt he sucks, he plays all the time in the off season.”

“Well you don’t suck.” He said.

“I don’t suck, but I’m not good.”

“I really don’t get why you are mad?” He asked.

And to be honest, I don’t really get why I am mad either. I don’t think I really am mad, its just if I had to pick something to do with my boyfriend it wouldn’t be playing golf, maybe mini golf but not real golf. I just know how he gets when he plays sports. I know how it will be if he loses and even if he wins. I just don’t feel like fighting over something stupid, so that’s what I told Jake.

“I just don’t feel like fighting over something as stupid as golf.” I said.

“Then don’t fight about it.”

“How could that possibly happen? We are playing against eachother?!” I said.

“Sophie and I are playing and I bet you we don’t fight.”

“Well I’m sorry Jake, that we just don’t have as good of a relationship as you and Sophie. I mean since you and Sophie have been together for so long, it makes mine and Sidney’s three years seem like nothing. We really should take notes from you.” I said and left the room.

“Jo, don’t be like that.” He said coming down after me.

“Be like what?” Sophie said.

“Jake, I am done talking to you about this. You guys have fun tonight and I will see you guys tomorrow morning.” I said walking out of the house and Sidney followed me.

“What was that about?” Sidney asked when we got into the car.

“Nothing.”

“Okay then.” He said turning on the car.

“Where exactly should I be driving us?” He asked.

“To the café. I have to talk to my mom.” I said.

“Mom.” I said as soon as we got to the café.

“Joey! I can’t believe you are back!” She said giving me a hug.

“Were you surprised that Sidney picked you up?” She asked me.

“Yeah totally.” I said looking at him and putting my arm around him.

“Mom, listen.” I said sitting at the counter.

“What happened?”

“Jake is being ridiculous.” I said.

“What did he do now?”

“He is acting like him and Sophie are the perfect couple. Like who even knew they were talking a month ago?”

“Just ignore him, Jo.” She said.

“Its just annoying. And then you are letting her stay in his room? Don’t you remember the first time you saw me and Sidney in the same bed? And Lord knows they aren’t waiting like me and Sidney.” I said and then I looked at him and he blushed.

“Seriously, Jo. Don’t even listen to him.” My mom said.

“Okay.. well Sidney and I are going to go to dinner and then watch a movie.”

“At our house?” She asked.

“Yeah, aren’t you and dad going out tonight?” I asked.

“Yeah, I was just wondering.”

“Then I am just going to stay at Marios.” I explained.

“Okay honey, its great to have you back.” She said kissing me on the forehead.

“K, bye mom, love you.” I said.

“Bye, Mrs. Smith.” Sidney said and then he held the door open for me to leave.
